Glider Orientation Flights are conducted year round, mainly out of Immokalee (KIMM) Regional Airport.
We encourage Cadets to directly contact us to find out more about the Glider program.
Open O-flight days: Most O-flight days will be specially scheduled on mutually available dates at the request of a squadron. However, Open O' Flight days will also be scheduled, without a request, and announced via the Wing General List. If you'd like to be kept up to date on Glider Flights, please subscribe to this list. All qualified cadets may participate in open scheduled orientation flying if they have not already flown 5 glider orientation rides. Please use the following sign-up instructions, directly contacting us. Cadets may request to join us as an individual. Your parent can bring you.
At this time most Sundays are available as Open O-ride days, with short prior arrangement for individual or small numbers of O-rides.
How to sign up for Open Glider Orientation Flights
Generally a maximum of 2 flights, per Cadet, per session, is allowed. This is done to give the Cadet the maximum experience without the possibility of motion sickness.
- Check our schedule and then sign up for flights on an Open O-ride day by contacting the Glider Flight Schedule Officer. If there is no Open O-ride day that meets your needs you may wish to specially schedule O-rides on a date that is suitable.
- All requests MUST be in writing via email. No verbal requests will be accepted. All correspondence will be via email. If you have not received a response to your request email within 2 days, please call 239.877.4348. Please check your email regularly for updates.
- The following information MUST be submitted at the time of flight request for ALL Cadets and Seniors wishing to fly: The maximum fully clothed weight of a Cadet or Senior is 226#s. All pilots reserve the right to weigh a person if they look close to the limit. This is for Safety reasons and maximum glider limitations.
